Nikita & Tom booked us as their Stirk House wedding band back in 2021 for their beautiful wedding in Clitheroe. It’s a delightful 17th century manor house with ivy-clad walls that have stood for nearly 400 years. Really quite spectacular, and the perfect place for Nikita and Tom to celebrate their wedding day.
We’ve passed Stirk House so many times, and wondered if we’d ever actually get to visit. So when Nikita told us where they were holding their wedding we got very excited! From the photos on their website, we knew the venue would be amazing. But the most pleasant surprise was David the coordinator. He bent over backwards to accommodate us and really couldn’t have been more welcoming to our humble Clitheroe acoustic duo.
Choosing songs for your wedding day must be such a difficult task: there are so many great tunes out there! Narrowing it down to 3 songs for your ceremony and 1 for your first dance isn’t easy, but Nikita & Tom had an idea of what they wanted from the off. Once they filled us in, we were more than happy to oblige. They are huge fans of Queen – perhaps the greatest rock band of all time, and cast-iron heroes of ours.
The live music for wedding ceremony was to take place in the beautiful chapel at the rear of Stirk House. We performed a selection of classic songs from our own repertoire, as well as sneaking in a couple of Queen classics like Under pressure, which we learnt for Liam & Alyssa’s wedding in Cogges Manor, and I Want To Break Free.
Fortunately it seemed their guests were just as big a fan of Queen as they were, and we caught a good number of them singing along with this awesome tune.

Before long it was time for Nikita to walk down the aisle, and the song she chose for this moment was yet another firm favourite of ours: The Whole Of The Moon by The Waterboys. We originally recorded this song during our break in 2020. Berts Barrow, an amazing wedding venue In Leeds, was kind of enough to allow us to film for our youtube channel, check out the original video here!
This is a song that is dear to our hearts, and is a masterclass in lyrical flair and brevity. It was such a joy to see Nikita float down the aisle, and we’re pretty sure there was a tear or two in Tom’s eye.

After the ceremony, we had a couple of hours to kill before the evening party, so we took the opportunity to take a look around Stirk House’s wonderful grounds. The gardens, architecture and views are something to behold, and we almost lost track of time. Fortunately we were ready to go by the time the Nikita and Tom’s First Dance came around. The song they’d chosen was The One by Kodaline. This is a song we’ve been performing for years, most recently at the wedding of Emily & James at Grange Barn.
Nikita & Tom danced in each other’s arms for a couple of minutes, before inviting their guests to come and join them. A few tears were shed, and we’re never sure whether making brides cry is a good or bad thing. We’re sorry Nikita!

Shortly after, we segued into our first early evening looper set with our cover of All I Want Is You by Barry Louis Polisar. A great song to follow the first dance, and begins with nothing but a vocal, which is a striking way of uniting the dance floor after the first dance ends.
We performed a cool 2 hour set, including both acoustic music and live looping tunes like Little Talks and You Can Call Me Al. After this, it was time for us to hand over the their incredible DJ Gary Mills. Gary is a great frind and one of the nicest men you could ever hope to meet. So it was great to be able to see him to his thing as we packed up and scuttled out through a packed dance floor.
We had such a great time at this wedding. Thank you so much for booking us as your Stirk house wedding band, Nikita & Tom, we had an awesome day with you and your guests.
