The Palm House is one of the most unique and inspiring wedding venues that we’ve had the pleasure of performing at as an acoustic duo. Nestled at the far end of Liverpool’s Sefton Park, the grand glass building is both elegant and invitingly cosy with beautiful tropical foliage that envelopes your guests, and creates the sense of an oasis of calm and a sanctuary from the world outside.
Our acoustic wedding breakfast set went down well with Jay and Luisa – Jay loves 80s indie stuff, and Luisa is crazy about 70s soul and Motown, so as the happy couple were announced into the room we played a stropped down rendition of Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder, and segued from this into a fun little rendition of Friday I’m In Love by The Cure. They were such a lovely couple and made us feel like a part of the family.
You’ll share the canopy with some cute little critters, too – A curious robin red breast even joined us for our break between the wedding breakfast acoustic music and the early evening live looping performance – hanging out in the branches by our table and occasionally venturing out into the walkway to grab the occasional seed or crumb. We couldn’t decide on a name for this little fellow, so in the end we played it safe and christened him Robyn.
As the last hints of storm Eunice gave way to a few rays of evening sunshine, Jay and Luisa had us perform a live acoustic rendition of their First Dance song. The cavernous glass ceiling providing a lush acoustic reverb that was baffled by the plentiful greenery and provided the perfect ambience to start the evening reception entertainment.
Jay, Luisa and their guests danced the night away right up until our last song before handing over to an incredible DJ from Wedding Jams called Paul. It’s so nice as an acoustic band to find yourself working alongside a consummate professional who really knows his stuff, and Paul followed our final encore (R.E.S.P.E.C.T by Aretha Franklin) with a perfectly pitched choice of ‘Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher And Higher’ by Jackie Wilson. It was a seamless transition and put a huge smile on our faces to know that the wedding party would be in excellent hands for the rest of the evening. Thanks so much Paul, it was pleasure to meet you! 🙂
Thank you so much, Luisa & Jay, for inviting us to be your liverpool wedding band!
We can’t wait to perform here again. If you’re looking for a cool and unusual wedding venue in Merseyside, Liverpool, you could do a lot worse than to take a look at the Palm House, and whether you’re looking for an acoustic duo to provide live music for your wedding ceremony and drinks reception, subtle background acoustic songs for your wedding breakfast, or a full-on live looping set for your early evening reception, we’d be delighted to join you for the day.
